Norton’s neuroma, also known as intermetatarsal neuroma, is a painful condition caused by the thickening of tissue around a nerve leading to the toes, typically between the third and fourth toes. Steroid injections can be used as a treatment option to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with Morton’s neuroma. During the procedure, a corticosteroid medication is injected directly into the affected area to reduce swelling and relieve discomfort. While steroid injections can provide temporary relief, they are not always a long-term solution and may need to be combined with other treatments such as orthotic devices, physical therapy, or in some cases, surgical intervention for persistent symptoms.
