Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and arm due to compression of the median nerve in the wrist. When conservative treatments like wrist splints and physical therapy don’t provide sufficient relief, a steroid injection may be recommended. During the injection, a corticosteroid medication is delivered directly into the carpal tunnel to reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms. While it can offer temporary relief for many individuals, it’s important to note that it may not be a permanent solution.
